New addition....Meet Vida!

After much deliberation, a decision was made several months ago that I might add another dog to the household. There was much back and forth, even strongly considered a different breed. My ideal candidate was one that had quite stable temperament, but could be a rock star on the schutzhund field. Oh, and she had to be a female to improve chances of a smooth transition with the current resident as he does not take too fondly to other male dogs.

Without going through the whole road that got us here, yesterday I drove down to Debbie Zappia's in New York and picked up a female puppy from a litter which I believe will meet my needs.

Both parents are super dogs, fully health tested and have their schutzhund 3 titles. If this little ankle biter walks in their shoes, I will be thrilled.

Needs her rest, it is exhausting being a puppy!

Waking up - loves the blankets! To sleep in and chew....

Diets is a little out of sorts.....all of a sudden he has to share his mom again! He is being kept separated for now - but he is sure keeping his eye on everything she does from behind the baby gates.

So far she has settled in quite quickly and prancing around like she owns the place. We have had only 1 accident! (I have been making 1000's of trips outside with her). She hates the cold like me, but has so far always obliged with at least a pee. Thus far, her favourite things seem to be climbing onto things, biting (everything!) and eating. We are off to a promising start!

Stay tuned for now - we have lost/misplaced/can't find our camera. Hopefully it turns up soon and cell phone quality images can be replaced by ones that are slightly better :-)
