Nothing like a few good training sessions with friends to help increase motivation to train. =)
Since my last post - I decided to be very proactive and get out there and train the dog! I incurred a few little hiccups - however for the most part - I think things went great.
Three excellent consecutive tracking sessions - I have a dog very motivated to track and now doing articles off the track quite well. All three tracks have had a generous amount of food on them, tomorrow I am going to start thinning things out - see what happens. (Note to self: go to bed early!) I have the seagull thing fairly sorted out, but had a tough lesson on ants last week. Poor Diets likely had a stinging mouth for a few hours :-(
Obedience - Started really teaching the jump for dumbbells. Working on increasing speed on the about turn in heeling and perfecting fronts. I have also decided to take a few steps back and go back and teach an extremely solid "sit/down and pay attention". Basically... "sit" means sit, watch me with good expression and hold that position until instructed otherwise including under heavy distraction . (Opposed to sit and watch anything else "more" exciting going on) All exercises improved!
Protection was great. Did some excellent guarding, back up bites and working on the escape bite. We did a bit of environmental stuff as well and he was awesome. Grips are good and he is holding the sleeve like a champ (well most of the time!)
Now to keep the momentum going!
