New Past Time - Geocaching!!

My first experience with Geocaching was as a "muggle" (aka. non-geocacher). I was doing some tracking with my dog in a somewhat isolated location and I happened to notice a gentleman who seemed to be acting as if he did not want to be noticed. My suspicions and the fact that it was fairly remote location, we walked right up and inquired as to what he was up to. He appeared flustered that we had disturbed him, however begrudgingly admitted he was geocaching. It sounded legitimate and we left him alone and vice versa.

Now approximately 18 months later I am re-introduced to the 'sport' (not sure if it is truly a sport or more of an 'activity'). Anyways, I checked out the online site and realized there are in fact so many caches in and around my local area. One of them was in a park that I walk Nora and Dieter in almost daily and I had no idea!!

So after taking FOREVER to find my first cache which was also a very easy cache - I arrived home, logged it online and subsequently went back out to find another! It is very rewarding and I especially enjoy it because I bring Dieter with me! Not only does he get to go for a hike, but he keeps me company!

Dieter loves geocaching - gives him to opportunity to mark literally thousands of trees, bushes, stumps until the tank is empty. ;-)

Perhaps one day I can train him how to find the cache himself and indicate when he locates it. This one he just wanted to play with after we found it.

Looking for our second one of the day. Unfortunately there was a lot of trash and broken glass around the area this one was hidden, so we had to be careful where he stood or put his nose!
